I was just wondering if anyone besides me has actually beat the secret level in Illusion of Gaia that you can get to by bringing Gem the jewler all 50 gems. It's a very tough level, and you basically don't get anything for beating it except a slightly extended storyline. It seems like Enix/Quintet could have done a little better job here and game you something really cool for beating the level.

Yeah, I beat the level too. I was disappointed also . I mean, Gem was the HARDEST boss in IoG. And you don't get nothin'! I kinda expected a new ending or something...

I beat it. Took me forever to find out how to get past that stupid staircase.
I, too, was disappointed I didn't get anything. But I kinda understand why they didn't give you anything ultimately cool. Sometimes when you activate secrets, they either make the end boss painfully easy (ruining the end boss and in effect the game) or make no difference (in which the secret itself was pointless).
I was glad that the plot that was being followed had some closure, though. I was curious about that entire second plot line that seemed pointless.
Modified: clarified a few things in 2nd paragraph, changed a really stupid typo, and added a sentence.

Yeah, I got to the secret dungeon. Man that was one difficult battle... Heh heh... I the SB series in this order : IoG, TS, SB. SO, after beating the first boss in SB, I had myself a little laugh. To begin with I thought that SURELY it must have raised some stat or two. But NO... I quickly got over it and then slaughtered Dark Gaia. I then proceded to run down the stairs hollerin' about beating a game that my parents and sibling had never seen more than fifteen seconds of. While it seemed kinda pointless to beat Gem without getting anything special in return, it also gives you some sort of sense of gratification in that you have outright finished a game. You have done everything to its fullest potential. You give yourself a mental trophy, but never realize it until retrospect kicks in. You have BEATEN Illusion of Gaia. ~ Willow ~ NOTE : If you haven't completed the secret dungeon and destroyed Gem, I SERIOUSLY suggest that you stop what you are doing RIGHT NOW, and do it. It's well worth the external pointlessness.

Heh, yeah I guess it is cool finding out that Gem is actually the first boss you fight in Soul Blazer! 8) But it took me forever to beat him, and I had to save up just about every herb that I got in the game. And I also had the same problem that Ajax had and it took me forever to realize I had to walk under the staircase! ;D

Oh yeah! I forgot about that... heh heh... You figure that they would have made you have to negotiate through previous dungeons like that so that you would know. Eh, I suppose they wanted to just throw in a little stumper in the secret dungeon...

See? Aren't I an IOG Master ;D? I did beat Solid Arm. I found every Red Jewel Because of Terra Earth's Red Jewel List Solid Arm was EXTREMELY challenging. But when I read "This is a very tough boss fight. The best way to defeat Solid Arm is to keep using the Psycho Slide attack on him." That really helped me out. I had many herbs to use. I had about 6 I think. I had to use them all! But when I beat him, I was taken to the Tower of Babel. But when I got up to where the Spirit can Transport me to Dao, then I did. The Jeweler Gem was not there anymore. I was really looking for a challenging fight. But now, I am on my way to a more challenging fight. But I don't think there is anymoe challengine fights, because I already defeated Dark Gaia. The Ending was Cool. Will went to School! Well, I got to go now. ~IOG Master
