Great question, if anyone understands it please let us know! What does Elle see when she opens the door?! Maybe Enix wanted it to be a mystery? Who knows....

I'm not sure what it means, I've always assumed that Elle just saw the stork Ark became and kept him as a pet or something like that. It never really occured to me that something else could be going on, though I do see the possibility and that would be very cool.

Yes, I agree with Blizard. The guy at the door is Light Ark.

yeah, Must have been Ark. There was only one ark after the light/dark meeting in Dryvale though.
Anyway for him to return to human form without gaia's express wishes would have taken a serious disruption in the world. I cant see why gaia would let him back unless it needed him. Even if light gaia is good it is still devoid of any emotion.
If light gaia was not granting the form to him something must SERIOUSLY be destracting it. Perhaps a resurgence of dark gaia or the insane expansion of man?

Holy Sh*t! I don't know about the rest of you guys, but my little Dutch brain can't take this much information. You sure your head won't explode if you keep thinking Clockwood? ;D But... It's good that's someone thinks about this... alot.
But c'mon, if it isn't Light Ark, who is it?

I gotta rewatch the ending, I dont remember any of that. But anyway, I didnt know what was happening throughout the entire game anyway, so its not really surprising I didnt get the ending. Actually, scratch that. Act 1 made a bit of sense, and Act 2 was fine. Just when ppl came, the game got confusing.

I've seen this come up ALOT. Basically my impression is that it's Light Ark. Many reasons:
Ark promised to return to Elle [if memory serves], Noone but Ark would know Elle was there, Elle would not rush out [assuming to hug Ark] unless it was Ark. It can't be Dark Ark because the Underworld is collapsing for now.
Now, Light Ark sure can be alive, because Light Elle is, Dark Elle also died, and was vaped in the Underworld's collapse. So it's very feasible for Light Ark to be the one at Elle's door, and I think that's what the makers of the game were intending. Simply ask yourself... who else could it possibly be??? Fyda and Royd are dead. Noone but Ark left that really knew or cared of Elle's existance.
But that's just my opinion....

Ugh ... I'd never thought about it in that way ... But it seems to be the only possible answer. A very sad end, I think ...

Ok, I went back and rewatched it, and would have to disagree with you, I think it was dark ark(as in the one you play). If you remember, it says he dreamt his last dream of being a bird, and then flew around. Also, he would know where light Elle lived. The final proof, though, is that when Elle, opens the door, you can hear the bird chirping.

Light Ark? Do you mean Underworld Ark after his reborn or the "Real World" Ark?
In the german version the two Arks get through the reborn one Ark, if you can believe the second last boss ;D. If you let him live a longer time, he will shout things like "There ist somebody in you" etc. I don´t know if he says this in the english ROM too.

Ok, Ill try and type this out again, coz my last post wasnt all that great. Ok, everyone in the game seems to believe in reincarnation. So, when the Dark World collapses, and Dark Ark(ie, the protagonist of the game)goes with it, it is assumed that he dies, and will therefore be reincarnated(Dark Elle mentions that they will). Now, as he goes to sleep, Ark dreams of being a bird. It could then reasably be assumed that this is his next incarnation. Now, as Ark loved both Light and Dark Elle(as shown to him by Meilin in South America), and that Dark Elle is also dead, and that he doesnt know how she will be resurrected, would it not make sense that he would go to where he knows that Light Elle lives? This is then shown to the player by the chirping noise heard when she opens the door. This has been done by the designers before. In the first town in Soul Blazer(Greenwood?), there is a man living with a goat, who is the current incarnation of his late wife. So theres my theory, with logical steps and previous examples to go on.

Yup. I think I agree with SimeSublime.
Speaking of reincarnation... If I remember it right, Fyda says to Ark, when she first meet him, that she thinks she has met him before...
Hm... I'm thinking...
My first thought was that she had seen him in a previous life. Perhaps she was a mountain goat or something.
But there are other possibilities too, I realize...
Hm... This obviously had very littles to do with the topic...

I thought she said she remembered Royd from somewhere before the castle? I took that to be him saying that he lived in the village King Henri destroyed(sorry, forgot the name). He says to Wong(or his brother)that theyre group killed his best friend, so I assumed that he had escaped from Norwood forest before the killing started.
